Information We Process

Depending on how you use Berina, we may process the following categories of information:

• Profile information such as your username, avatar image, and bio.
• Content you create or submit, including photos, videos, captions, comments, and other post content.
• Interaction data such as likes, follows, search terms, search history, report submissions, and block actions.
• Beauty Studio inputs, including portrait photos, face photos, visible facial features, skin areas shown in submitted images, selected makeup styles, color selections, beauty adjustment settings, and skin analysis requests.
• Purchase-related information such as product identifiers, transaction status, and diamond balance used for eligible features.
• Permission-related information needed to access your camera, photo library, and microphone when you choose to use those features.

Face Data We Collect

Berina processes face data only when you voluntarily choose to use Virtual Makeup, Beauty Filter, or Skin Analysis and submit a photo for that feature.

When you choose Virtual Makeup or Beauty Filter, Berina processes the portrait photo you select, including visible facial features, together with the selected scene, makeup options, color selections, custom prompts, or beauty adjustment settings needed to create the requested result.

When you choose Skin Analysis, Berina processes the face photo you select, including visible facial features and skin areas relevant to the requested analysis.

How We Use Information

We use information to provide and operate Berina’s features, including:

• Creating and updating your profile.
• Displaying posts, videos, comments, likes, follows, and profile pages.
• Supporting search, discovery, safety tools, reporting, and blocking functions.
• Processing virtual makeup, beauty filter, and skin analysis requests.
• Saving and displaying beauty and makeup result history.
• Managing diamond balances and fulfilling eligible in-app purchases.
• Maintaining app security, preventing misuse, and handling support requests.

How We Use Face Data

Berina uses submitted face data only to provide the Beauty Studio result you request, including virtual makeup generation, beauty filter generation, or cosmetic skin analysis. Berina does not use submitted face data for face recognition or identity verification.

Berina does not use submitted face data for advertising, behavioral profiling, or unrelated analytics.

Consent Before AI Processing

Before a user's first use of an AI Beauty feature and before Berina sends a face photo to a third-party AI provider for processing, the app presents a face data consent notice and asks for the user's agreement.

If the user does not agree, the app will not send the face photo or related beauty inputs for AI processing and the requested AI Beauty feature cannot be used.

AI Beauty Features

When you use virtual makeup, beauty filter, or skin analysis features, Berina processes the image you submit together with related beauty settings or prompts required to generate results.

These features use third-party AI processing services to analyze or edit submitted images. Skin analysis results are intended for cosmetic and informational use only and are not medical advice.

Third-Party AI Processing and Disclosure

Face photos and related beauty inputs submitted for Virtual Makeup, Beauty Filter, and Skin Analysis are sent to Alibaba Cloud DashScope, our AI processing provider, so the requested result can be generated and returned to the app.

For Virtual Makeup and Beauty Filter, the related beauty inputs may include selected scenes, makeup options, color selections, custom prompts, and beauty adjustment settings. For Skin Analysis, the related input is the requested cosmetic skin analysis of the submitted face photo.

How We Share Information

• Profile information, posts, comments, and other content you share in app features may be visible to other users.
• Submitted face photos and related beauty inputs for AI features are shared with Alibaba Cloud DashScope only when needed to generate the requested result.
• Purchase processing is handled through Apple’s in-app purchase systems and related service providers.
• We may disclose information when required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of Berina and its users.

Storage and Retention of Face Data

Face photos submitted for Virtual Makeup and Beauty Filter are retained in the corresponding Berina history records together with the generated result until you delete the record or delete your account. These history records are stored locally on your device within the app's local storage.

Face photos submitted for Skin Analysis are processed to generate the requested analysis result and are not added to a persistent local skin-analysis history record in the current app flow.

Temporary provider task data and returned image links associated with AI image processing may remain available at Alibaba Cloud DashScope for up to 24 hours as part of the processing workflow and are then automatically purged by the provider.

Face data sent to Alibaba Cloud DashScope is otherwise retained there only for the period needed to process the request and return the requested result to the app.

Permissions

Berina may request access to the following permissions when you choose to use related features:

• Camera access for taking profile photos, capturing beauty images, and recording videos.
• Photo library access for selecting images or videos and saving generated results.
• Microphone access when recording video posts with audio.

In-App Purchases

Berina offers consumable in-app purchases for diamonds. Purchase transactions are processed through Apple. We may process purchase status, product identifiers, and balance updates needed to provide the purchased digital items.

Your Choices

• You can edit your profile information within the app.
• You can remove your own posts and clear beauty or makeup history records made available in the app.
• You can use the in-app delete account flow to remove profile-related information and other app data associated with your use of Berina.
• You can manage camera, photo library, and microphone permissions through your device settings.
• You can decline the face data consent notice for AI Beauty features. If you do, the app will not send your face photo for AI processing and the requested AI Beauty feature cannot be used.

Retention

We retain information for as long as needed to provide app features, complete transactions, maintain safety and service integrity, resolve disputes, enforce our terms, and comply with legal obligations.

Children’s Privacy

Berina is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us so we can review the request.
